16 May Omer; Wheat Offering
The gematria of wheat-chita is 22 which is equal to the power of all 22 letters of the aleph-beit. All the letters of the aleph beit are used to assemble all the words and there all the power of the Torah.
Barley as a grain is an animal feed may suffice as a grain that can be associated with ‘lower’ speech. Wheat-Chita is associated with the emanation of DAAT as Knowledge. The experience of Daat-Knowledge becomes elevated by interinclusion of Chochma- Wisdom of Intellect, a mind experience, and Binah- Wisdom of the Heart-Understanding , an emotive-experience.
It is also associated with the power of Malchut-Kingship (Kingdom) on the middle axis. Our DAAT is associated and actualized through Malchut-Kingship the power of speech that forms reality. It is therefore most important that our speech be rectified as divine Torah speech. There is a saying that ‘When the Kings speaks, he moves mountains’. Accordingly we are taught that a person (to be most effective) must become [with the power of Daat and Malchut] as a King with his speech.
Our universe (world) is pluralistic, multi dimensional. The ability to perceive pluralism comes from the power of Daat.
The Power of Wheat;
‘Bereishit 3:6 The woman saw that the tree was good for eating and desirable to the eyes, and that the tree was attractive as a means to gain intelligence. She took some of its fruit and ate. She also gave some to her husband with her, and he ate.
7. Then the eyes of both of them were opened. They realized that they were naked.
It was after the eating the eating of the fruit of the Tree Of Knowledge ie the wheat power of Wheat became ignited and gave them (a new) level of clarity, DAAT-Knowledge ie ‘their eyes became opened’ to the pluralistic world we have come to know.
Wheat for humans as Rabbi Yehudah HaNasi says: It was wheat, for the child does not have the knowledge to call “Father” and “Mother” until he tastes grain.
This statement is a mashal (allegory ) to convey a message, so it is not to be taken literally. We say regarding the following statement that a childs perception of plurality as speech as his mother and father and the world becomes awakened with the eating of wheat, teaching us the value of Daat – Knowledge and Malchut as it related to igniting the potential of plurality in world and Holy speech.
On Shavuos we bring our grain a unique sacrifice called the “Two Loaves” (Shtei Halechem) is offered, along with other sacrifices. These loaves, made of wheat (which is atypical for sacrifices), are considered the “first fruits” of the wheat harvest. Along with the Two Loaves, a variety of other sacrifices are offered, including burnt offerings, sin offerings, and peace offerings
The elevating of the wheat offering; “And the face of the world will be filled with wheat”: at first like wheat and bread. Then afterwards Israel will be as the fruits of a vineyard and orchard: wine and oil, as Solomon prophesized, “Let my beloved come into his garden and eat its choicest fruits.” (Song of Songs 5:1)
